It can take a couple of minutes as SPI storage is rather slow.
#Manjaro install yakyak archive
If the archive does not contain any file for your board, you should use one of our pre-built OS images instead, which has the Shared Storage version of U-boot installed.
#Manjaro install yakyak download
Go to the latest release section of Tow-Boot and download the file that matches your board. We have currently tested Tow-Boot, so that's what this guide will use. So we can utilize this chip, by preparing the board specific firmware on it, making it able to boot our generic image. This is a small storage device, usually 4-16 MB in size, that the board checks for firmware before proceeding to other devices. I am not endorsing alternatives like matrix, but sadly it has come down to thw fact that I can't use discord on my phone or laptop due to intentional lack of support.Installation Preparing the SPI (optional) The client sucks and lags like crazy, and there is no solution if you want better performance and stay with Discord. Kinda small brain for that not going to lie. Discord is a program for gamers, which gamers want the best performance possible, execpt that they use electron, which ia extremely resource intensive. Sadly if Discord doesn't step up and fix their policies or their clients, then discord will lose a lot of their userbase to matrix.Īnother thing. Platforms like matrix can do everything that discord can do, and has many clientd that are multiplatform. I have started to move to discord alternatives that are open source and therefore cross platform, as well as more privacy protecting and that has more freedom. Noting how discord TOS is very restricting, especiall with not beimg allowed to use 3rd party clients. I hate to say it but, I am leaving discord little by little. I would love to see a way to do something like a discord bot, where you can setup an api for your personal account, to be able to interface the messaging app of choice for those of us in the community who wish to use our own open source alternatives to the discord official app that is not fully supported on linux x86_64, and not at all supported on linux aarch64. Sadly the restrictions of non-open source software(non free/libre software) is that there will not be support on all platforms. I don't think it will replace the gaming computers, no way, but it is replacing the school laptop, and maybe down the line mobile phones too, more than just developers. It only makes sense for thin and lights to switch to arm based processors, they are more power efficient(much longer battery life) and cheaper to manufacture. What Kirfkin said above, arm is the future for so many things. Having this formatted well for mobile would really be great for those who use non IOS/Android mobile operating systems. Even if there is no support for Aarch646, having a mobile online client like desktop has, where you can sign in and do most things from the website.
Sadly I feel that, as a team that doesn't support linux super well(on x86_64) as well as no support on Aarch64, I will have to find new ways to keep in touch with others online. The webclient is "fine" but things restricted to the desktop client like system wide push to talk would be a significant improvement to the use of Discord on machines like this, as well as presumably less overhead.Īs an owner of a pinephone myself, I am forced to use discord alternatives for communication with my friends. I suppose this would predominantly benefit enthusiasts and tinkerers for the foreseeable future but I know we'd appreciate it none the less. I won't make claims that aarch64 will replace x86/AMD64 going forward, but it certainly seems to be the ARM platform of the future.
#Manjaro install yakyak pro
A Pinebook Pro only runs $199, but I suspect it could just be targeted in compilation.Īlternatively, if it were possible to make an Open Source client which does not violate the TOS of the API. Linux aarch64 already supports electron, so I imagine it should be very plausible.
#Manjaro install yakyak windows 10
I think aarch64 will have a place in the future Microsoft already has Windows 10 on ARM though I suppose it's likely Discord would work through its emulation.
I have a Pinebook Pro, and it's a great and capable machine for what it is and there's also SBCs like the Raspberry Pi 4 (Maybe 3 is on aarch64 as well, I don't recall) as well as the Pinebook, Pine64, PineTab, PinePhone etc, as well as likely a variety of more poorly supported SBCs and laptops. Definitely think this would be a great addition.
